Why do we humans think we're so amazing?
When I look around I often see us moaning and lazing
Or slashing and blazing
We're unkind even to our own kind
The other animals we think are ours to confine
Cut off their beaks and claws
For no necessary cause
The killing goes on every day of every week of every season
For no justifiable reason
Do you think we need those products to be healthy?
These bad habits make a few soulless corporations wealthy
While messing with the climate, arable land goes to waste
Feeding the poor man's bread to the rich man's cow
For a matter of taste?
The alternatives are delectable
So I'm inclined to find this unacceptable

Have you ever looked into the eyes of an animal
And see they feel love and fear, just want to be fulfilled
And don't want to be killed?
Like your dog or your cat
The ones we eat are like that

It's time to open ours and avert our own demise
